WElcome To my PRactice

Hi, I'm Dr. Savannah Patel.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in reproductive psychiatry and women's mental health.

Throughout a woman's reproductive life, hormonal changes, physical transitions, and evolving relationships can have a profound impact on emotional well-being. Whether you are preparing for pregnancy, navigating infertility, experiencing depression or anxiety during pregnancy, adjusting to life after childbirth, or struggling with concerns such as PMDD, you deserve psychiatric care that considers the full picture.

My practice is dedicated exclusively to women, with a particular focus on reproductive and perinatal mental health, including preconception, pregnancy, postpartum, and lactation.

I offer a personalized and collaborative approach to psychiatric treatment that combines conventional, evidence-based medicine with integrative strategies addressing the connection between mind and body.

My goal is to help you make informed decisions about your mental health while honoring your individual values, circumstances, and reproductive goals.

Whether you are seeking ongoing psychiatric care or simply need guidance about the risks and benefits of medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding, I am here to help you navigate your options with clarity and confidence.

Specialized Care for Every Stage of Your Reproductive Journey

Preconception & Fertility

Psychiatric care for women planning pregnancy, navigating infertility, undergoing fertility treatments, or considering how to manage existing psychiatric medications before conception.

Postpartum & Lactation

Compassionate psychiatric care during the transition to motherhood, including postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, mood disorders, and medication management during breastfeeding.

Pregnancy

Individualized treatment of depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and other psychiatric conditions during pregnancy, including careful consideration of the risks and benefits of medication treatment.

Women's Reproductive Transitions

Psychiatric care addressing the relationship between reproductive health, hormonal changes, and emotional well-being, including PMDD, pregnancy loss, and other significant reproductive transitions.

My Approach to Psychiatry

I believe that thoughtful psychiatric care requires more than simply treating a collection of symptoms.

My approach combines traditional Western psychiatric medicine with evidence-informed integrative strategies to address the biological, psychological, and social factors contributing to your mental health.

During our initial consultation, I take the time to understand your psychiatric and medical history, reproductive goals, current symptoms, personal circumstances, and previous treatment experiences. We will also explore the role of sleep, nutrition, physical activity, relationships, stress, and other lifestyle factors.

When appropriate, treatment may include psychiatric medication, targeted laboratory evaluation, nutritional and lifestyle interventions, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals involved in your care.

I approach medication decisions during pregnancy and lactation with particular care. Rather than assuming that medication should always be continued or discontinued, we will consider the risks of treatment, the risks of untreated psychiatric illness, your individual history, and the available evidence.

My goal is to develop a treatment plan that is medically informed, realistic, and aligned with your values.

How I Can Help

Ongoing Psychiatric Care

Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and recurring medication management appointments for women seeking continued treatment throughout their reproductive journey.

One-Time Consultations

Specialized second-opinion and risk-benefit consultations for women seeking guidance about psychiatric medication use before conception, during pregnancy, or while breastfeeding.

Collaboration With Your Healthcare Team

Consultation and collaborative care with obstetricians, midwives, therapists, and other medical professionals to support coordinated, individualized treatment.

Psychiatric treatment is often most effective when it incorporates multiple perspectives and forms of support.

While I provide a therapeutic approach to medication management, I generally recommend that patients who would benefit from ongoing psychotherapy maintain a separate relationship with an individual therapist.

Our practice also offers in-house perinatal psychotherapy through Patel Mind and Body, allowing patients to access specialized therapy alongside psychiatric treatment when appropriate.

I am happy to collaborate with your existing therapist, obstetrician, midwife, fertility specialist, or other healthcare providers to help ensure continuity of care.

A Collaborative Approach to Your Mental Health

I offer in-person psychiatric appointments on Tuesdays and virtual appointments Wednesday through Friday.

To schedule an appointment or learn more about whether my services are appropriate for your needs, please contact the front desk at Patel Mind and Body.

My practice is private pay. A superbill can be provided for patients who wish to seek potential out-of-network reimbursement through their insurance carrier.
